Game Cancellations

Games may need to be cancelled for various reasons, including: inclement weather conditions, poor air quality, emergency situations, poor field conditions, etc.

A game can only be cancelled by the officiating referee, Paris Soccer Club, Twin Rivers Soccer League or another host Soccer Club.

A coach does not have the liberty to cancel a game, without the consent and approval of the referee or soccer clubs.  If a coach is unavailable for a game s/he needs to assign his/her assistant coach to coach the game.  The assistant coach needs to bring the team game book for U10-U21 division teams.  Failure to have the game book at a game may result in a game not being played or a forefeit.  If neither the coach nor assistant coach are able to coach a game, a parent can stand in as a substitute coach.  As a last resort another Paris Soccer Coach or executive member may be able to fill in, as long as there is ample notice to coordinate.

At the start of the season coaches should review the game schedule and discuss with their team any conflicts with the schedule (ie: graduation dates, school camping trips, statutory holidays, etc.).  If there is a game that conflicts with a special event, than the coach should reach out to his/her club administrator and Twin Rivers League administrator, to discuss a request to reschedule this game.

Rescheduling of games takes time and coordination between the two team coaches, field administrator and referee coordinator to arrange for linesman and referees.  This is why we try to avoid having to reschedule games, as it can impact the season, playoff and tournament play.

It is important to note, that any Paris Soccer Club team who abandons a game without notifying the club and Twin Rivers League, can result in our club incurring the cost of paying for referee fees and fines from the league.

At times, rescheduled games will be scheduled at the end of the season before playoffs and/or tournament play.
